"I don’t want to start fixing our content till I understand what’s wrong with it"
Want to take a strategic view of your next content refresh? An audit gives you an intelligent assessment of your current content and makes practical recommendations for immediate improvements.
Why audit your content?
It’s a good idea to kick off a web-writing project with a formal content audit which assesses the strengths and weaknesses of your current content and identifies quick wins and longer term improvements.
What does an audit do?
An audit can tell you:
- how well your current content supports your business objectives
- how it communicates your brand
- how it serves your users/customers
It can also:
- provide a roadmap for your in-house editorial team
- support a business case
- identify priorities for improvement at the beginning of a larger project
How does the process work?
We discuss your commercial and seo objectives for the site and your brand values, and agree with you a representative sample (typically 20-40 pages). We then assess the nominated pages against our best practice web-writing criteria
Our content auditors are all very experienced in reviewing websites like yours, and can suggest lots of practical fixes for common content snags.
What will you get?
You get a report assessing each page against our key web-writing best practice criteria, with a mark against each and an overall score.
The report also includes an overall summary, which draws together the key findings and makes recommendations – both for quick solutions to immediate problems and longer-term suggestions – for improving your content. Many of these can be addressed almost instantly, bringing about a rapid and economical improvement in the user’s experience of the site.
We can provide the report as a Word document and/or present our findings to a meeting of stakeholders.
Do we just audit websites?
Oh no. We can apply our audit process to websites, email copy, and offline marketing materials too – or any combination.
